Tiwanku Day Trip

Discover what life was like in Bolivia over three thousand years ago on this fascinating day trip to Tiwanaku. Our professional guide will show you around one of the most important archaeological sites in South America.

Description

At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in La Paz. We'll then make our way toward the archaeological site of Tiwanaku, where you'll travel back in time to the year 1500 B.C.. This site was home to the first Precolombian empire in South America.

Our first stop will be at the lithic museum of Tiwanaku, featuring some of the tools used by the civilization and works of art preserved for conservation.

We'll then explore key sites in Tiwanaku, including the pyramid of Akapana and the temple of Kalasasaya, a ceremonial enclosure that functioned as a calendar.

The tour continues to an underground temple filled with zoomorphic and anthropomorphic symbols, and the iconic Puerta del Sol. We'll discuss the historical significance of this culture and its influence on later civilizations, such as the Incas.

We'll return to La Paz and drop you off after a total of 8 hours.
