Discover what life was like in Bolivia over three thousand years ago on this fascinating day trip to Tiwanaku. Our professional guide will show you around one of the most important archaeological sites in South America.
Description
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in La Paz. We'll then make our way toward the archaeological site of Tiwanaku, where you'll travel back in time to the year 1500 B.C. when the civilization considered to be the first Precolombian empire in South America flourished.
Our first stop will be at the lithic museum of Tiwanaku, showcasing tools and works of art preserved for conservation.
We'll then visit key sites in Tiwanaku, such as the pyramid of Akapana and the temple of Kalasasaya, used as a ceremonial calendar.
The tour includes an underground temple with zoomorphic and anthropomorphic symbols, and the Puerta del Sol, an emblem of Tiwanaku civilization. We will explore the historical context of this culture and its influence on later civilizations, including the Incas.
After approximately 8 hours, we will return to La Paz and drop you off.
