Discover what life was like in Bolivia over three thousand years ago on this fascinating day trip to Tiwanaku. Our professional guide will show you around one of the most important archaeological sites in South America.
Day Trip Details
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in La Paz. We'll then proceed to the archaeological site of Tiwanaku, advancing to the year 1500 B.C., during the rise of the first Precolombian empire in South America.
Our first stop will be at the lithic museum of Tiwanaku, featuring some of the tools and works of art from this civilization.
We'll then visit significant sites in Tiwanaku, including the pyramid of Akapana and the temple of Kalasasaya, a ceremonial space thought to function as a calendar.
The tour continues to an underground temple filled with zoomorphic and anthropomorphic symbols, culminating at the impressive Puerta del Sol ("Gate of the Sun"), emblematic of Tiwanaku civilization. We will explore the historical significance of this culture and its influence on later civilizations like the Incas.
After the tour, we will return to La Paz, completing the experience in a total of 8 hours.
