Palomino Islands Speedboat Trip & Swimming with Sea Lions
At 10 am, we'll meet in front of the El Mirador Restaurant in La Punta. From there, we'll walk for a few minutes to board the speed boat that will take us on our cruise around the islands of Callao.
The boat will sail across the South Pacific, allowing us to admire rock formations and observe fishing activities. We'll pass El Camotal, an island submerged after an earthquake, visible only during low tide.
We'll head to San Lorenzo, known as a "mystery island," featuring a navy base, cemeteries of Chilean soldiers, and over 20 pre-Incan archaeological sites.
Next, we'll visit El Frontón, known for its prison ruins, which held prisoners of the Shining Path communist party in the 1980s. We'll admire the Cavinzas, a group of rocky islands and islets with natural caves, all home to a colony of Humboldt penguins.
We will skirt the Palomino Islands to observe the ecosystem of guano birds and the sea lions inhabiting the area. We'll also take a dip near the coast to swim with these animals.
At the end of the trip, we'll sail back to the meeting point in Callao at 1 pm.
