Safari Details

At the designated time, pickup from your hotel will occur. A safari truck will take you to Higüey, approximately a 40-minute ride.

Upon arrival, the exploration of the town's traditional market will begin, lasting 45 minutes. This market is renowned for its fruit, vegetable, and meat stalls, followed by a visit to a cigar factory to learn about cigar production.

The safari will continue through the sugar cane plantations of Bayahibe, where discussions on the uses of sugar cane and life in surrounding settlements will occur. The trapiche system will be explained, showcasing its role in turning sugar cane into Dominican rum.

Next, a visit to a typical ranch in the Dominican jungle will provide an opportunity for a lunch next to the river, featuring cocoa, manioc, tropical fruits, and Dominican salami. Drinks will include a choice of soft drink, rum, or water.

Before returning to La Romana, a small boat ride along the river amidst lush greenery will occur, with an option for a refreshing dip in the river.

The day trip concludes with a drop-off at your hotel, totaling 8.5 hours.
