Ljubljana Christmas Tour

Join us on this Christmas tour of Ljubljana to discover the traditions of Slovenia's capital during the festive season.

Tour Details

We will meet at 21 Ciril-Metodov trg to begin our Christmas tour of Ljubljana. We will first visit Prešeren Square, dedicated to France Prešeren, Slovenia's prominent romantic poet, where we will see Art Nouveau façades and the Church of the Annunciation, constructed between 1646 and 1660, near the poet's statue.

Next, we will walk to Congress Square, notable for its blend of medieval and modern architecture, which will be adorned with Christmas lights.

Our route continues along the banks of the Ljubljanica River, where we will discuss Slovenian Christmas traditions. You will learn why children receive presents three times in December.

Finally, we will explore the old town and visit the Christmas market, where we will sample roasted almonds, salted chocolate, Christmas honey, mulled wine, mulled gin, or Christmas tea and šmorn, a traditional dessert.

We will conclude our tour back at Prešeren Square after 1.5 hours of sightseeing.
