Mt Cook Day Trip from Tekapo

After gathering at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Tekapo, we will depart for Mt. Cook, the highest peak in New Zealand.

We'll arrive at Lake Pukaki and observe its striking color, which can change depending on the weather. A clear sunny day may allow us to spot Mt. Cook from here.

Next, we will head to the famous Mt. Cook National Park, also known as Aoraki. You can explore the area at your own pace. Consider visiting either the Hooker Valley or the Tasman Glacier.

If you choose the Hooker Valley, you'll hike along ice-covered cliff faces to reach an ice-filled lake at the foot of Mt. Cook. You may even hear the glacier moving.

If you opt for the Tasman Glacier track, you will walk through the glacier's old terminal moraines, offering views of the glacier, river, and lake.

Enjoy a lunch provided by Fairlie Bakehouse while taking in the views of the park. You can relax at the Mt. Cook Information Center to learn about the park's history.

Finally, we will pick you up and drive back to Tekapo, arriving at the meeting point 5 hours later.
