2-Day Trip to Shincal, Campo de Piedras Pómez, & Carachi Pampa Volcano

On this 2-day trip, we'll discover the ruins of Shincal, the Campo de Piedra Pómez, and we'll visit the volcano Carachi Pampa.

Trip Details

Day 1: Shincal de Quimivil

We'll begin by picking you up from your hotel in La Rioja to travel to Shincal de Quimivil Archeological Site. We will explore the ancient city and discuss the vanished indigenous populations and their political systems. Afterward, we'll visit London and Villa Vil to experience rural life, passing through the Quebrada de Indalecio and the Cuesta de Randolfo. The day will conclude with a return to your hotel in El Peñón or Belén after a total of 10-12 hours.

Day 2: Campo de Piedra Pómez – Carachi Pampa Volcano

We will continue our adventure after picking you up from your hotel in El Peñón or Belén to visit the Campo de Piedra Pómez. This protected natural area features extensive pumice stone fields and unique rock formations. We will then proceed to Carachi Pampa Volcano, which stands over 3000 metres (9842 feet) tall. After this visit, we'll return to La Rioja, where drop-off is around 8 pm.

Trip Accommodation

Please note that the overnight stay at a hotel is not included in the tour price, so you will need to book your own accommodation in El Peñón or Belén.
