2-Day Trip to Shincal, Campo de Piedras Pómez, & Carachi Pampa Volcano

On this 2-day trip, we'll discover the ruins of Shincal, the Campo de Piedra Pómez, and visit the volcano Carachi Pampa.

Trip Details

Day 1: Shincal de Quimivil

We will begin by picking you up from your hotel in La Rioja and proceeding to Ruta 40, which leads to the Shincal de Quimivil Archeological Site. The exploration includes pre-Columbian buildings and discussions on the vanished indigenous populations, their political systems, and daily life, as well as the destruction of Shincal.

Following this, we will visit London and Villa Vil to experience rural life, passing through Quebrada de Indalecio and reaching the Cuesta de Randolfo. Expect striking landscapes.

After a total of 10-12 hours, our first day concludes at your hotel in El Peñón or Belén.

Day 2: Campo de Piedra Pómez – Carachi Pampa Volcano

We will pick you up from your hotel in El Peñón or Belén to visit the Campo de Piedra Pómez in Antofagasta de la Sierra.

Upon arrival at this protected natural area, we will see extensive pumice stone fields and unique rock formations. We will then explore the Carachi Pampa Volcano, a volcanic cone over 3000 metres (9842 feet) tall overlooking Laguna Blanca.

Finally, we return to La Rioja, with drop-off around 8 pm.

The overnight stay at a hotel is not included in the tour price, so you will need to book your own accommodation in El Peñón or Belén.
