Trip Details
Day 1: Shincal de Quimivil
We will pick you up from your hotel in La Rioja and proceed to Ruta 40, reaching the Shincal de Quimivil Archeological Site. We will explore this ancient city, discussing its pre-Columbian buildings and the society of the vanished indigenous populations. This includes insights into their daily life, power dynamics, and the factors leading to the destruction of Shincal.
Next, we will visit London and Villa Vil, experiencing the rural lifestyle while ascending through the Quebrada de Indalecio to the Cuesta de Randolfo. We will conclude the day, spanning 10-12 hours, at your hotel in El Peñón or Belén.
Day 2: Campo de Piedra Pómez – Carachi Pampa Volcano
We resume the adventure with pickup from your hotel in El Peñon or Belén, heading to the Campo de Piedra Pómez. In this protected natural area, we will observe extensive pumice stone fields and unique rock formations.
Subsequently, we will locate the Carachi Pampa Volcano, which stands at over 3000 metres (9842 feet) and overlooks Laguna Blanca with its striking black slopes. Our journey will then conclude as we return to La Rioja, dropping you off around 8 pm.
Trip Accommodation
Please note that the overnight stay at a hotel is not included in the tour price, so you'll need to book your own accommodation in El Peñón or Belén.
