Trip Overview

Day 1: Valle de la Luna - Talampaya

Prepare to be transported to surreal landscapes reminiscent of another world! After picking you up from your hotel in La Rioja, our adventure will take us to the striking Ischigualasto Provincial Park, widely referred to as Valle de la Luna. Have your cameras ready for some incredible shots!

After a scenic drive of 2.5 hours, we will arrive and embark on a vehicle tour to witness mesmerizing red rock formations. Highlights include the Bowling Green, Submarine, Mushroom, Red Cliffs, and Museum. Each formation offers a unique spectacle!

Following our exploration of this extraordinary site, you'll enjoy some leisure time at the visitor center where you can relax and have lunch. Later, we will regroup to head towards Talampaya National Park.

At Talampaya, you’ll discover the intriguing erosion processes that have occurred over the last 45 million years, creating one of Argentina's most significant arid geological formations. Our tour will guide us through a striking canyon, where we’ll stop to view remarkable petroglyphs including the Gothic Cathedral, the Monk, and the Botanical Garden. These natural artworks are truly inspiring!

We will conclude our first day after about 12 hours, returning you to your accommodation in Villa Unión.

Day 2: Laguna Brava

Our exploration of vibrant desert landscapes continues as we pick you up from your hotel in Villa Unión and set out for the day's highlight: the stunning Laguna Brava Provincial Reserve. Let’s embark!

During our journey, we will traverse La Quebrada de la Troya, a hilly path that unveils captivating Andean vistas and views of the Vinchina River. After 10 kilometers (6.2 miles), we will arrive at Quebrada del Peñón, where a hiking trail will take us to the park's entrance. The arid hills surrounding us are the first indicators that we're approaching our destination.

Upon entering the park, you’ll discover the unique high-altitude lagoon system characteristic of the Andes. The highlight will undoubtedly be Laguna Brava, famous for its vibrant populations of white and pink flamingos. The backdrop of majestic, snow-capped mountains creates a picturesque setting, perfect for memorable photos.

This rewarding day will wrap up around 8 pm as we return you to your hotel in La Rioja.
