2-Day Trip to Valle de la Luna, Talampaya, & Laguna Brava

On this tour of Valle de la Luna, Talampaya, and Laguna Brava, we will explore desert landscapes west of La Rioja in 2 days.

Trip Details

Day 1: Valle de la Luna - Talampaya

After picking you up from your hotel in La Rioja, we will drive for 2.5 hours to Ischigualasto Provincial Park, known as Valle de la Luna. We will go on a vehicle tour to see notable rock formations like Bowling Green, Submarine, Mushroom, Red Cliffs, and Museum.

After exploring, you will have free time for lunch at the visitor center before we head to Talampaya National Park. We will learn about the geological erosion over 45 million years and stop to view petroglyphs such as the Gothic Cathedral, Monk, and Botanical Garden.

Our day concludes after 12 hours at your hotel in Villa Unión.

Day 2: Laguna Brava

We will pick you up from your hotel in Villa Unión and begin our journey to Laguna Brava Provincial Reserve. During the trip, we will pass by La Quebrada de la Troya to see Andean landscapes and the Vinchina River. After 10 kilometers (6.2 miles), we will reach Quebrada del Peñón and hike to Laguna Brava's entrance.

In the park, we will observe the high-altitude lagoon system typical of the Andes, especially Laguna Brava, known for its population of white and pink flamingos, set against snow-capped mountains.

This day concludes at your hotel in La Rioja around 8 pm.
