Brava Lagoon Trip

Join us to discover the fascinating landscapes in La Rioja on this trip to the Brava Lagoon. A combination of reddish deserts, salty lagoons, and a huge variety of native animals await you.

Options

Both options include pickup and drop-off at your hotel in La Rioja, transport in a 4x4, and an English-speaking guide. Here’s what to expect in each option:

8.5 hour tour

We will depart La Rioja heading north to begin the tour of Quebrada de la Troya, where dinosaur footprints are found. After exploring, we will reach Jagüé and continue to Quebrada Santo Domingo, known for mountain refuges built between 1862 and 1874, following the Army of the Andes.

Next, we will visit the Brava Lagoon Provincial Reserve, a high-altitude saltwater lake on the border with Chile. We will also observe species such as vicuñas, guanacos, flamingos, and Andean seagulls. A stop at the Brava Lagoon Viewpoint will precede a visit to the Gulf of Flamingos to see the birds closely. Lastly, we will view the remains of an aeroplane that made an emergency landing in 1964.

We will return to hotels after 8.5 hours.

10 hour tour

The 10-hour tour includes additional activities, such as visiting the Brava Lagoon geysers, where we will encounter ochre-colored mounds and a strong sulfur smell.
