Conquer one of the highest peaks in the Americas on this day trip to the Incapillo crater. A stunning lake, vicuñas and magnificent rock formations await!
Description
At the indicated time, we will pick you up from your hotel in La Rioja and, before sunrise, we'll head out towards the Incapillo crater, a significant natural site in the province.
We will travel in a 4x4 towards the Quebrada del Peñón, as dawn's light appears. We'll enter the Laguna Brava Provincial Reserve, known for its saltwater lagoons where we can see vicuñas and guanacos.
Next, we will visit the Pampa del Veladero, a desert valley with mounds of ice formed by a natural phenomenon. You will have free time to take a break and eat the food you have brought.
After our meal, we will travel along the Veladero River to Mount Pissis, which rises over 6,800 metres (22,000 feet) above sea level, the second-highest peak in the Americas. We will approach Incapillo, situated at 5,500 metres (18,000 feet) above sea level, home to a lake formed by meltwater.
We will walk around the Incapillo crater, allowing time to admire the scenery. After the hike, we will return to the 4x4 and begin our journey back to La Rioja.
After 15 hours of adventure, we will conclude the activity back at your hotel.
