Los Colorados or Condor Ravine Hike

On this hike in La Rioja's surroundings, you'll have the option to trek around Los Colorados Reserve or explore Condor Ravine (Quebrada de los Cóndores).

Hike Options

During the booking process, you can choose between two options: a hiking trail in Los Colorados Provincial Reserve or in Condor Ravine. Both hikes include hotel pickup and drop-off in La Rioja and a Spanish-speaking guide. Details of each trail are as follows:

Los Colorados (8 Hours)

This hike starts with a 75-kilometre (46.6-mile) drive from La Rioja to Patquia. Upon arrival, the hike in Los Colorados begins, a site known for its bright red rock formations and ancient rock art, featuring over 200 petroglyphs. We will also explore Chacho Cave and the Natural Bridge. The hike includes a 2-kilometre (1.24 miles) trail.

Schedule: This hike option begins at 9 am.

Condor Ravine (14 Hours)

The Condor Ravine option starts with a 110-kilometre (68-mile) drive from La Rioja to Punta de los Llanos. The trail leads uphill through big rocks and mountains to a viewpoint for observing Andean condors. Afterward, there will be time to rest at an inn in a natural setting before returning to La Rioja.
