Talampaya & Ischigualasto Day Trip

In this excursion from La Rioja, we will explore extraordinary landscapes found in Ischigualasto and Talampaya, which are two renowned national parks in Argentina.

Tour Overview



Your adventure will commence with a departure from La Rioja, heading towards Ischigualasto Park, also referred to as the Valley of the Moon.



Ischigualasto Park captivates with its surreal vistas, featuring vast expanses of grey rock and valleys shaped by the erosion of water. A guided walking tour combined with a bus ride will allow you to fully explore this remarkable terrain located in the San Juan province, showcasing the most significant highlights of the park.



During this 4-hour exploration, you will witness astounding geological formations and popular attractions within Ischigualasto Park, many of which are intriguingly named, such as the submarine, the worm, and the mushroom. You'll make several stops at scenic viewpoints, capturing the beauty of Valle Pintado and Cancha de Bochas. The Cancha de Bochas features a particularly fascinating landscape dotted with perfectly spherical grey stones, evoking the feeling of a lunar environment.



Lunch will be enjoyed within the park, so be sure to bring your picnic basket along. Post-lunch, the journey will continue as you head back to La Rioja for a visit to Talampaya National Park. Upon arrival, you'll board a bus for a guided tour of this impressive World Heritage Site.



As you traverse through Talampaya, you will be awed by the towering rock walls that define the park, a true marvel of nature. You will also delve into the intriguing geological history that the area holds.



After concluding the bus tour of Talampaya, another bus will transport you back to La Rioja, with return expected around 8 pm.
