Set off on a 1-hour walking tour of Vegueta, the Old Town of Las Palmas. Discover its history, main squares, monuments, and buildings with an expert guide.
Vegueta Walking Tour
At the appointed time, we'll meet at Calle Herrería to begin the guided tour of the Vegueta district.
We'll navigate the maze of streets in the city’s historic center while admiring Spanish colonial architecture. Your guide will explain the everyday life of the inhabitants of Las Palmas in the fifteenth century.
The tour continues through the old town towards Plaza de San Antonio Abad, where we will find a hermitage commemorating Christopher Columbus's visit to this island.
We'll then visit Plaza de Santa Ana, home to eight sculptures of dogs representing the Canary Islands. This archipelago is known as "tierra de los canes" due to the numerous dogs present on each island, including four different breeds indigenous to the Canary Islands.
Next, we'll admire the Las Palmas Cathedral, located in Plaza de Santa Ana, notable for its Gothic architectural style and formerly the only cathedral in the Canary Islands until 1819.
The tour concludes after an hour and 20 minutes at Plaza de Santa Ana.
