Activity Details
At the designated hour, we'll gather on Calle Palomino before departing by vehicle to our launch site. There, you'll receive a briefing on the planned 8-kilometer (5 miles) itinerary along with your kayak and paddles. Let's prepare to embark!
As we set off, we’ll embark on a delightful kayaking journey to Punta Mosquito, which we aim to reach in roughly 35 minutes. This stunning area features vast beaches adorned with dunes, lush mangroves, and breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea.
While gliding along the waters, we’ll have the opportunity to spot various bird species, including the peregrine falcon, snowy plover, and American oystercatcher. Next, we’ll make our way to the Kuka River, taking in the rich flora and fauna unique to Holbox Island. Our exploration will take approximately 1.5 hours as we paddle through mangroves that shelter flamingos, ospreys, cormorants, and roseate spoonbills.
Keep your eyes peeled! It’s not unusual to see crocodiles sunbathing along the banks. Fun fact: some of these reptiles can live for up to 80 years. We’ll pause for about 10 minutes at the river's mouth, allowing time to rest and capture photographs before we return to our starting point.
After completing a fulfilling 3-hour experience, we will conclude our adventure back at the original meeting spot.
