Enjoy a night experiencing Mexican tradition and culture under a blanket of stars on the island of Holbox with this Maya full moon ceremony.
Maya Full Moon Ceremony
At 8 pm, we will meet at the designated starting point in Holbox and proceed to the beach where the Maya Full Moon Ceremony will occur. Participants will be greeted by the shaman responsible for the ritual. After introductions, the shaman will explain the different steps of the full moon ceremony.
The Maya people referred to the moon as Ixchel. Our spiritual guide will discuss the significance of the moon to this ancient civilization and its associations with love, gestation, medicine, and textile work.
Illuminated by torches and accompanied by rhythmic music, the shaman will facilitate a connection with the environment, the moon, the sea, and nature for an inner journey toward spirituality.
Following the ritual, the activity concludes with a kayak trip on the tranquil waters of Holbox island, taking in the scenery of this Mexican Caribbean paradise under the starry sky. At 10 pm, we will return to the meeting point.
