Lecce Guided Visit
We will meet at the scheduled time in Piazza Sant'Oronzo to begin our guided visit of Lecce, known as the Florence of the South.
During the tour of Lecce's historic centre, we will explore the era of the Roman Empire, including the theater and amphitheatre from the 2nd century AD.
The tour includes a visit to the façade of the Castle of Charles V, built in 1539. We will discuss Lecce's ties to the Spanish Crown while strolling past Renaissance buildings like Vernazza Palace and several churches featuring Baroque architecture.
We will admire the Church of San Giuseppe and the decorative details of the Basilica of Santa Croce, noting the façade dragons representing the legendary Battle of Lepanto.
Additionally, we will visit the exterior of Lecce Cathedral and its square, where the Episcopal Palace and the seminary are located.
After 1 hour 30 minutes exploring Lecce, we will conclude our guided visit back at the starting point.
