During this guided tour of Leiria, we'll explore the city’s history in the historical province of Beira Litoral and visit the iconic castle.

Leiria Guided Tour

Meet at the Leiria Castle ticket office, the starting point of our tour of this fortress. The castle, inaugurated in 1135, has a well-preserved interior. As we walk through its rooms, we will discuss its construction, mandated by the first king of Portugal, Alfonso Henriques, to defend the kingdom's borders.

In addition to the castle, we will explore significant monuments such as the Church of Nossa Senhora da Penha, the ancient Pazos Reales, and the Main Tower, offering beautiful views of Portugal. After learning about the fortress' history, we will walk to the Leiria Cathedral, known for its unique history despite a modest exterior.

We will continue visiting Casa de los Pintores and Casa de los Arcos, before concluding our route in the Jewish Quarter, recognized for its preserved medieval layout.

After 2 hours of discovery, we will conclude the tour at this final stop.
