Travel back in time to the era of colonial Lima with our House Aliaga Guided Visit. You'll visit one of the Peruvian capital's oldest buildings, constructed in the same year that Lima was founded.

House Aliaga Guided Visit

At your chosen time, we’ll meet in Perú Square where House Aliaga, one of the oldest buildings in Lima, is located.

The history of this mansion dates back to the time of Francisco Pizarro, the Spanish conquistador who divided plots of land in the newly founded Lima among his men. Jerónimo de Aliaga y Ramírez, who became one of the conquerors of Peru, has had his lineage living in this house since it was built in 1535.

House Aliaga has witnessed significant moments in Peru's history. During the Republican period, it served as a refuge for President Miguel Iglesias, Rear Admiral Aurelio García, and Generals Manuel Velarde and Antonio Bentín.

We will explore the luxurious halls of House Aliaga and learn about the family that has lived here for 17 generations. Our visit includes the tiled living room and bedrooms featuring furniture from the Louis XVI period, French carpets, and Japanese vases. From the grand windows of the lavish dining room, we’ll also have views of the courtyard, which features a 19th-century English fountain.

Another highlight is the chapel, previously adorned with silver plates that were looted during the War of Independence.

After just under 3 hours touring the iconic Aliaga House, we'll conclude our guided visit and say our goodbyes.
