Lima Churches Tour
- 4 Stunden
Stroll around the main religious sanctuaries and convents in the Peruvian capital on our Lima Churches Tour. We'll explore architectural gems such as the sanctuaries of Saint Rosa de Lima and Saint Martín de Porres.
Lima Churches Tour
We'll meet at the scheduled time at the entrance of the Church of the Nazarenas and start our tour around Lima's churches. The Peruvian capital has been linked to Catholicism since its beginnings due to the Spanish conquistadores who brought Catholicism to the region.
During the tour, we'll learn that Lima has two saints and is the seat of the Archdiocese of Peru. We will first visit the sanctuary and monastery of Las Nazarenas, where the image of the Lord of Miracles is venerated.
Next, we will see the Sanctuary of Saint Rosa de Lima, where she lived in the 16th and 17th centuries, followed by a visit to the house of Saint Martín de Porres.
We will continue to the Convent of Santo Domingo, notable for its rococo bell tower and home to the remains of Saint Rosa de Lima, Saint Martín de Porres, and Saint John Macias.
At the Plaza de Armas, we will view the beautiful Cathedral of Lima, the resting place of Francisco Pizarro. Our tour will then include the Convent of San Francisco and conclude at St. Peter's Basilica, a 16th-century building founded by the Society of Jesus.
