The name Limoges evokes the art of porcelain. When you purchase a ticket to the National Porcelain Museum, you will enjoy the largest exhibition of ceramic in the city.
What to expect
In 1768, kaolin, an essential clay for porcelain production, was discovered near Limoges. This clay allowed Europe to replicate China's translucent white ceramic art, making Limoges porcelain an international reference point.
The Adrien Dubouché National Porcelain Museum houses the largest public collection of Limoges porcelain, in addition to other ceramics from around the world. The exhibition features more than 18,000 pottery works, showcasing the evolution of ceramic art from Antiquity to the present day.
This four-room gallery is located inside an Italian style palace built in the early 1990s, which has become a city landmark.
Opening hours
The National Porcelain Museum in Limoges opens every day, except Tuesday, from 10 am to 12:30 pm and 2 pm to 5:45 pm.
