Lismore Guided Tour
At 2 pm we'll meet on West Street to start this guided tour of Lismore, during which we'll learn about the history of this Irish city in County Waterford.
We'll begin by walking down Lismore's oldest street, exploring its Celtic origins, Viking invasions, and Norman settlements. The history of this town is rich. Nearby, we'll find the old railroad station, active until the 1960s and later converted into residential area.
Another important site we'll see is the Famine Graveyard, a remnant of one of the most tragic stages in the city's history. Next, we will admire the St. Carthage Cathedral from the outside to unveil the details of its façade.
Then we head to Lismore Castle, built on a hill overlooking the Blackwater River. This fortress has hosted many famous guests, including King Henry II of England, Fred Astaire, and John F. Kennedy.
Finally, after a 50-minute guided walking tour of Lismore, the route will conclude with our return to the starting point.
