Round Hill Hiking Activity
At 11 am, we'll meet on West Street in Lismore and start walking along the Round Hill trail. This route is situated among the trees and follows the banks of the River Blackwater.
We'll enter Lismore's forest and reach the Special Area of Conservation. Here, we will discuss the history of the area.
During our walk, we will visit the Norman Motte and Bailey Castle, built by King John of England in the late 12th century to protect the borders.
Covering a distance of 3 miles (5 kilometers), we will enjoy views of the River Blackwater and hear about the Irish legends related to Motte and Bailey.
We will return to the meeting point and conclude our activity at around 12:30 pm.
