Round Hill Hiking Activity
At 11 am, we'll meet on West Street in Lismore and start walking along the Round Hill trail. This trail progresses along the banks of the River Blackwater.
We'll explore Lismore's forest and reach the Special Area of Conservation while discussing the local history.
During the hike, we'll visit the Norman Motte and Bailey Castle, built by King John of England in the late 12th century for border defense.
Over the course of our 3 miles (5 kilometres) hiking route, we'll enjoy views of the River Blackwater and hear stories of the Irish legends associated with Motte and Bailey.
We will return to the meeting point and conclude the activity around 12:30 pm.
