Discover the beautiful scenery that surrounds the historic town of Lismore on our Round Hill Hiking Activity. We'll visit the iconic Motte and Bailey Castle and take a pleasant walk along the banks of the River Blackwater.

Round Hill Hiking Activity

At 11 am, we'll meet on West Street in Lismore and start walking along the Round Hill trail. This route is nestled among the trees and follows the banks of the River Blackwater.

We'll venture into Lismore's forest and arrive at the Special Area of Conservation, where we'll discuss the history of the area.

During our walk, we'll visit the Norman Motte and Bailey Castle, built by King John of England in the late 12th century for border defense.

As we cover the 3 miles (5 kilometres) of our hiking route, we'll admire views of the River Blackwater and hear about the Irish legends associated with Motte and Bailey.

We'll return to the meeting point and conclude the activity at around 12:30 pm.
