Round Hill Hiking Activity
At 11 am, we'll meet on West Street in Lismore and start walking along the Round Hill trail. This route is located among trees and runs along the banks of the River Blackwater.
We will venture into Lismore's forest and arrive at the Special Area of Conservation. Here, we'll discuss the history related to this area.
During our walk, we’ll visit the Norman Motte and Bailey Castle, built by King John of England in the late 12th century to secure the region.
On the 3 miles (5 kilometres) hiking route, we'll enjoy views of the River Blackwater and learn about the Irish legends associated with Motte and Bailey.
We'll return to the meeting point and conclude the activity around 12:30 pm.
