Tomar and Almourol Castle Day Trip

At the indicated time, we'll meet at Praça da Figueira to start our Tomar day trip. After approximately an hour and a half of traveling through the landscapes of central Portugal, we'll arrive at our first destination, Almourol Castle.

We'll approach the 12th-century fortress, on the small island located in the Tejo River, by boat and enter the castle to admire its 10 imposing towers. As we walk around the castle, we'll learn about its history and importance during the Iberian Reconquista.

Following this, you will have free time to experience traditional Portuguese cuisine at nearby medieval-style restaurants (lunch not included).

Afterward, the bus will take us to Tomar, Templar City. We'll visit the historical center featuring medieval monuments related to the Order of the Poor Knights of Temple, and learn about King Alfonso I and the Templars.

Accompanied by our guide, we'll visit Tomar Castle and the Convent of Christ, designed after the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. We'll also visit the Church of Santa Maria del Olivar, a 12th-century Gothic temple established by the Knights Templar.

The tour will conclude with our return to Lisbon, with arrival at Praça Marque de Pombal scheduled 11 hours after pickup.
