Liverpool History Tour
We'll meet at 2:30 pm in front of Sailors' Home Gate and start our guided tour of Liverpool, focusing on the city's evolution over more than three centuries.
The tour will begin with a walk through Liverpool's streets, examining the history and architecture until we reach the Chinese Arch, the gateway to the oldest Chinatown in Europe.
Adjacent to Chinatown, we will visit the Liverpool Cathedral, an impressive red sandstone structure. We will discuss the controversies surrounding the largest cathedral in the UK as we admire its Gothic façade designed by architect Giles Gilbert Scott.
Next, we will visit St Luke's Church, also known as the 'bombed church', where we will discuss significant events in Liverpool during the Second World War and the city’s recovery.
Our final stop will be in the Cultural Quarter, which includes St George's Hall, a notable neoclassical building, and the Liverpool Central Library.
The tour will conclude around the Cultural Quarter at 4:30 pm.
