Liverpool History Tour
We'll meet at 2:30 pm in front of Sailors' Home Gate to start our guided tour of Liverpool. This tour will cover the evolution of the British city over more than three centuries.
We'll begin walking through Liverpool's streets, exploring its history and architecture until we reach the Chinese Arch, the gateway to the oldest Chinatown in Europe.
Near Chinatown, we'll visit the imposing Liverpool Cathedral, a structure built in red sandstone. This largest cathedral in the United Kingdom features a 20th-century Gothic style designed by architect Giles Gilbert Scott.
We'll also stop by St Luke's Church, known as the 'bombed church'. Here, we'll discuss some complex chapters of the city's history during the Second World War and its recovery from devastation.
Finally, we'll walk through the Cultural Quarter and discover St George's Hall, a notable neoclassical building in Europe, and the Liverpool Central Library.
The tour will conclude around the Cultural Quarter at 4:30 pm.
