Carihuairazo Volcano Laguna Congelada Tour
At 8 am on the morning of the tour, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Baños de Agua Santa. From there, we will travel west by minibus to the Chimborazo Fauna Production Reserve, approximately two hours away.
Upon arrival, you will see the Chimborazo volcano, which stands at 20,700 feet (6,310 meters) as the highest peak in Ecuador. Nearby is the Carihuairazo volcano, our destination for the day.
We will embark on a 3-hour hiking route to explore the wilderness around the two volcanoes. The hike includes snowy terrain, high peaks, and extensive valleys until we reach the frozen lagoon of Carihuairazo, known as Laguna Congelada.
During this time, we will share the geological history of the lagoon, formed millions of years ago by the melting of the glacier of the Carihuairazo volcano.
After taking pictures, we'll enjoy a picnic near the lagoon that includes a sandwich, fruit, and juice. Once we have regained our strength, we will start our descent.
After returning to the minibus, we will head back to your hotel, concluding the excursion at 5 pm.
