Chimborazo Volcano 2-Day Hiking Tour

Day 1

Between 7 and 8 am, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Baños de Agua Santa. The mountain guide will explain the hiking equipment: outer layer, boots, ropes, harness, crampons, and ice axes. We will then proceed to Riobamba, where we will start the first leg of the route up the Chimborazo volcano.

We will climb to a refuge at an elevation of 4,800 meters, followed by a second one at 5,000 meters. There we'll have soup, a meat dish, and juice. In the afternoon, basic ascent techniques will be taught. Dinner will consist of a meat or chicken dish with juice, followed by rest until midnight.

Day 2

At midnight, we rise for the route up the mountain. A snack of bread, fruit, and tea or coffee will be provided before we start a six-hour hike to the summit at 6,263 meters. At the top, we will see part of the glacier and views of the Central Andes. The Inca civilization performed rituals here. After taking in the scenery, we will return to the refuge.

We will then descend to the base to take the bus back to Baños de Agua Santa, with arrival at your hotel scheduled for 2 pm.

Accommodation

This tour includes one night of lodging at the Condor Cocha mountain refuge in a shared room with a single bed.
