Chimborazo Volcano 2-Day Hiking Tour

Day 1

Between 7 and 8 am, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Baños de Agua Santa. The mountain guide will explain the necessary hiking equipment: outer layer, boots, ropes, harness, crampons, and ice axes. Then we'll head to Riobamba to start the first leg of our route up the Chimborazo volcano.

We'll first climb to a refuge located at an elevation of 4,800 meters, then proceed to a second refuge at 5,000 meters. At this location, we'll have soup, a meat dish, and juice. In the afternoon, we'll learn basic techniques for the next day's ascent.

For dinner, we'll have a meat or chicken dish with juice, after which we'll rest until midnight.

Day 2

At midnight, we'll get up to continue the route up the mountain. Before setting off, we'll have a snack of bread, fruit, and tea or coffee. We will begin a six-hour hike to the summit at an altitude of 6,263 meters.

Upon reaching the top of Chimborazo, we'll observe part of the glacier and enjoy views of the Central Andes. There are historical ties to the Inca civilization, which performed rituals on this mountain. After taking in the scenery, we'll return to the refuge.

Finally, we'll descend to the base and take the bus back to Baños de Agua Santa, arriving at your hotel around 2 pm.

Accommodation

This tour includes one night of lodging at the Condor Cocha mountain refuge in a shared room with a single bed.
