Cirque de Gavarnie & Spanish Bridge Day Trip
Bright and early at 8 am, we'll meet next to the Hôtel d'Espagne. Let's explore the natural wonders found near Lourdes!
After 1 hour's drive in the minibus, we'll arrive at the famous Spanish Bridge or 'Pont d'Espagne' in French. You'll have 2 hours of free time here to take pictures of this spectacular stone bridge over a deep gorge.
During these 2 hours, we recommend taking the Gaube Lake chairlift to see another beautiful spot in the French Pyrenees. If you prefer hiking, you can walk around the Marcadau Valley and observe the flora and fauna, as well as the enchanting forests and mountains that frame it.
We'll get back on the bus and head to Cauterets, where you'll have time for lunch. This charming spa town is known for its thermal springs that were visited by Napoleon III. We will also visit a confectioner in Cauterets to try berlingots, a traditional French sweet.
The last stop of the day will be at the Cirque de Gavarnie, which has rock walls that tower at almost 5,000 feet (1,500 metres) high. We'll admire the beauty and waterfalls of this site, protected by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
It'll then be time to finish our day trip and head back to the starting points, arriving around 7 pm.
