Join us for a journey into the past of Tuscany on this guided tour of the walls of Lucca. We'll walk along these ancient fortifications and learn about one of the most significant landmarks in this city.

Lucca City Walls Guided Tour

At the indicated time, we'll meet at Piazzale Giuseppe Verdi? and head to the walls of Lucca. This tour will focus on discovering a landmark of this UNESCO World Heritage city.

During the tour, we will explore the evolution of military engineering in Italy between the 13th and 17th centuries. Due to the absence of conflict, the walls of Lucca were not used for defense and have remained largely intact to this day.

The wall system is integrated into a public park with green areas around the city. Our exploration will include views of the fortifications from both outside and inside. A visit to the inner galleries of the walls of Lucca will disclose where cannons and ammunition were stored.

Additionally, we will examine bastions such as San Donato and Santa Maria and their significance within the wall structure while discussing restoration efforts undertaken in recent years.

The guided tour will conclude after 2 hours at the bastion of San Martino.
