Discover how Galicia's ancient Celtic inhabitants lived visiting the Castro de Viladonga Museum and Archaeological Site and explore the landscapes around the Miño River.

Description

You will be picked up from your hotel on the tour day and set off from Lugo towards Castro de Rei, where the ancient ruins of Castro de Viladonga are located.

Upon arrival at the pre-Roman hillfort, participate in a guided tour of the archaeological site. Learn about the culture and customs of the Celtic people who lived here, observing preserved remains of city walls, houses, and public buildings. The archaeological complex provides insight into the "Castro culture" prevalent in ancient fortified settlements across north-western Spain and Portugal.

Further enrich your understanding by visiting the Castro de Viladonga Archaeological Museum, where scale models and artefacts from the castro illustrate daily life in pre-Roman Galicia.

After visiting Castro de Viladonga, you will be taken to Fonmiñá Lake near Meira. Enjoy walking in the natural landscapes at the source of the Miño River and learn about the legends tied to the springs from Pedregal de Irimia.

At the end of the tour, return to your minibus for the journey back to Lugo.
