Lugo Guided City Tour
On the day of your tour, meet your guide by the giant chess board located in Praza Maior, Lugo's main city square and the location of the Concello, the town hall.
Your guided tour will start at Saint Mary's Cathedral, a 12th-century church significant on the Camino Primitivo pilgrimage route. Inside, you can see various artistic styles from Romanesque to Gothic, Baroque, and Neoclassical, including chapels dedicated to San Froilán and the Virgin with Big Eyes.
Next, visit Lugo's Roman walls, the only city in the world surrounded by intact Roman walls. You will learn about the history of Lucus Augusti while walking alongside these well-preserved 3rd-century stone walls, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Continue to the Domus Do Mitreo Museum, built on the remains of an ancient Roman temple. This museum offers insights into Lugo's Roman past beyond its walls. The tour will also include main squares: Plaza de Santo Domingo, Plaza del Campo, Plaza de Campo Castelo, and Plaza Mayor. The guided tour lasts 2 hours.
Domus Do Mitreo Museum
The Domus Do Mitreo Museum is closed every Monday and on certain national holidays. If this coincides with your tour date, you will visit the towers of Saint Mary's Cathedral for panoramic views of the city instead.
