Excursión a los templos de Abydos y Dendera

Embark on an enriching day trip as we depart from Luxor, journeying towards Abydos and Dendera, two remarkable cities nestled along the Nile, each home to ancient and captivating temples.

Day Trip Overview

After collecting you from your hotel or boat, we will set off from Luxor to Abydos, located approximately 260 km to the northeast.

Once in Abydos, you will explore its renowned temple, erected by Set I in reverence to Osiris. This sacred site features significant depictions of Set I and Ramses II's lives, as well as the remarkable Royal Lists that chronicle the 77 kings of Egypt, spanning from Menes through to Set I.

Abydos holds the title of the most pivotal religious hub and pilgrimage site in ancient Egypt. Here, visitors can observe the representations of the "Mysteries of Osiris," a ceremonial reenactment of the god Osiris's death and resurrection.

Following your exploration, we will enjoy a picnic lunch before proceeding to Dendera.

The Temple of Dendera is dedicated to the goddess Hathor, with construction beginning during the reign of Nectanebo I and extending into the Roman era. The temple boasts two intricately decorated crypts, halls with colonnaded ceilings, and two funeral chapels, from which the famous "zodiac" found in the Louvre originates.

After a final visit to the Temple of Isis, we will begin our return journey to Luxor, dropping you off at your accommodation between 5 and 6 pm.

Hotel Pickup Information

This excursion specifically includes pickup and drop-off services exclusively for hotels and boats located on the eastern banks (right side) of the River Nile in Luxor. Upon return, you will be taken back to your original pickup location.

If your accommodation lies on the western banks (left side) of the River Nile, we will coordinate a designated meeting point with you on the eastern side.
