Intricately carved reliefs, mummified crocodiles and a unique double sanctuary: discover the Ancient Egyptian temples of Edfu and Kom Ombo on this guided day trip from Luxor.
Edfu & Kom Ombo Day Trip Itinerary
After being picked up from your hotel or boat in Luxor, you will follow the course of the River Nile to Upper Egypt.
Your first stop will be Edfu, where you will visit the Temple of Horus. The temple's inscriptions tell the legends of the falcon-headed deity Horus and provide details on the temple's construction. You can attempt to decode the hieroglyphs depicting the conflict between Horus and Seth.
After lunch at a local restaurant in Edfu, you will proceed to Kom Ombo. This temple is unique as it is dedicated to two deities: Sobek and Haroeris. Inside, the hypostyle hall, filled with intricately engraved columns, is particularly impressive.
Adjacent to the temple is the Crocodile Museum, which features a collection of mummified crocodiles, sacred in Ancient Egypt.
At the end of the tour, you will return to Luxor, arriving about 10 hours after pickup.
