Experience the enchanting allure of the Andes on this 4-day hiking expedition through the Lares Valley, culminating in a visit to the iconic Machu Picchu. Engage in a distinctive journey as we traverse the eastern slope of the Andes and the north Urubamba Mountain Range.

4-Day Trek to Machu Picchu

Day 1: Urubamba - Lares - Cuncani

Our adventure begins with a pick-up from your hotel in Urubamba at the scheduled time, where we will embark towards the starting point of our 4-day trek through the Lares Valley.

Our first stop will be the Calca market, bustling with fruit vendors showcasing local produce. This vibrant market is the perfect place to gather snacks for the day ahead!

Next, we will continue towards the natural hot springs in Lares, where you can indulge in a revitalizing swim. Following our dip, we’ll savor a delightful lunch featuring traditional dishes.

Rejuvenated, we will journey onward to Cuncani, our destination for the first night, where a hearty meal awaits to end our day.

Day 2: Cuncani - Pumahuanca Pass - Paccha

Awakening early, we will enjoy a hearty breakfast before embarking on our climb towards the Sahuasiray Mountain and Colque Cruz. Weather permitting, the summit offers breathtaking panoramic vistas.

As we descend through a forest adorned with polypepi, a native tree of the high Andes, we will proceed toward Pumahuanca Pass, which soars to a remarkable height of 5,318 meters (17,447 feet).

We'll pause along the way to enjoy a lunch before arriving at our next stopping point: Paccha.

Here, amidst the stunning greenery, we will have dinner together and settle down for the night at our campsite.

Day 3: Paccha - Ollantaytambo - Aguas Calientes

The third day kicks off with a breakfast at the campsite before embarking on another fulfilling day of hiking in the Lares Valley. Let's begin!

Our path leads us to a local fish farm, where we will gain insights into the practice of fish hatcheries in this region—home to the prevalent rainbow trout.

After enjoying lunch, we'll take a vehicle to the Ollantaytambo station for a train ride to Aguas Calientes, which serves as the gateway to Machu Picchu.

In Aguas Calientes, you will spend the night at a comfortable 3-star hotel and indulge in dinner.

Day 4: Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Urubamba

We’ll commence our last day of trekking in the Lares Valley with energy! After a nourishing breakfast at the hotel, we’ll set out for a day filled with exploration.

Our destination is Machu Picchu, one of the renowned Seven Wonders of the World. We will spend two hours exploring this awe-inspiring site, capturing its magnificent features.

After thoroughly enjoying this Peruvian gem, we shall return to Aguas Calientes to recharge. You'll have the chance to enjoy lunch at local restaurants.

Finally, we will board a train back to Ollantaytambo. Upon our arrival, a vehicle will be waiting to transport you back to your hotel in Urubamba.
