Join us on this trekking adventure on the Salkantay trail, one of the alternative Inca routes to Machu Picchu. We'll hike for 5 days through the Cusco region.

5-Day Trek to Machu Picchu

Day 1: Mollepata - Soraypampa - Humantay Lagoon

Pickup is at 5 am at your hotel; a four-hour road journey includes a breakfast stop. We will admire the white snowy peaks of Salkantay and Huamantay. The first 7-kilometer (4.3-mile) trek starts at Challacancha, ascending to 3850 meters (12,630 feet) at Soraypampa for lunch. We will hike to Humantay Lagoon for sunset views and stargazing.

Day 2: Salkantay - Huayracmachay - Chaullay

After breakfast, we leave for Salkantay, reaching 4650 meters (15,255 feet). We descend to Huayracmachay camp for lunch, then proceed through the cloud forests to Chaullay for the night.

Day 3: La Playa - Colpapampa - Lucmabamba

The hike to La Playa takes about six hours through Santa Teresa valley, featuring waterfalls and plantations. After lunch, we continue to Lucmabamba to explore the tropical forest and a coffee farm where we camp at night.

Day 4: Llactapata Inca - Hydroelectric Station - Intiwatana - Aguas Calientes

We start with coca tea followed by a two-hour hike to Llactapata Inca. After lunch at the Hydroelectric station, we visit Intiwana before walking to Aguas Calientes for the night.

Day 5: Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu

Early departure to Machu Picchu for a two-hour guided tour. Participants return to Aguas Calientes independently. Trains to Ollantaytambo are available, followed by a bus to a hotel in Urubamba or Cusco, with arrival by 10 pm.

Accommodation

The tour includes 3 nights in mountain camps and 1 night in a hostel in Aguas Calientes.

Book bus transportation between Aguas Calientes and Machu Picchu in advance to avoid queues.
