Join us on this trekking adventure on the Salkantay trail, an alternative Inca route to Machu Picchu. We'll hike for 5 days, exploring the mountain scenery of the Cusco region.

5-Day Trek to Machu Picchu

Day 1: Mollepata - Soraypampa - Humantay Lagoon

Pick-up at 5 am at your hotel, followed by a four-hour road trip through Anta and Mollepata with a breakfast stop. We'll admire the snowy peaks of Salkantay and Huamantay. In Challacancha, we will start a 7-kilometer (4.3-mile) trek to Soraypampa, ascending to 3850 meters (12,630 feet). After lunch, we'll hike to Humantay Lagoon to view a sunset and night sky.

Day 2: Salkantay - Huayracmachay - Chaullay

After breakfast, hike towards Salkantay, reaching 4650 meters (15,255 feet). Descend to Huayracmachay camp for lunch. Continue through cloud forests to Chaullay, where we camp for the night.

Day 3: La Playa - Colpapampa - Lucmabamba

On the third day, trek to La Playa across the Santa Teresa valley for six hours, observing waterfalls and local plantations. After lunch, proceed to Lucmabamba to explore a farm before camping overnight.

Day 4: Llactapata Inca - Hydroelectric Station - Intiwatana - Aguas Calientes

After a breakfast of coca tea, hike for two hours to Llactapata Inca. Visit the Hydroelectric station for lunch and explore the area. Then walk to Intiwatana before reaching Aguas Calientes for the night.

Day 5: Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu

On the final day, depart early for Machu Picchu to enjoy a two-hour guided tour of the site. Return to Aguas Calientes in the afternoon for the train to Ollantaytambo, followed by a bus to your hotel in Urubamba or Cusco, arriving by 10 pm.

The tour includes 3 nights in mountain camps and one night in a hostel in Aguas Calientes.
