On this excursion to Moray and the salt mines of Maras, we'll discover key sites of the Sacred Valley of the Incas and two emblematic locations of the Inca civilization.
Description
We will pick you up at your hotel at the scheduled time before heading to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, known for its natural beauty. The day trip begins in the village of Maras, which retains its colonial style and scenic views. Our next stop is the archaeological site of Moray, situated at 3500 meters (11,500 feet) above sea level. This site is believed to have been an experimental farm by the Incas over 500 years ago, featuring a notable amphitheater of circular terraces.
We will then proceed to a viewpoint for a view of the salt mines of Maras, which date back to the Inca period and consist of over 3 thousand salt ponds belonging to local families. The salt is iodized during the dry season for commercial sale.
Afterward, we will return to the meeting point to conclude the trip.
