Options

When booking you can choose the type of train to travel from Machu Picchu to Cusco, with a journey lasting from three and a half to four hours.

Expedition train

Aboard the Expedition train, you’ll travel through one of the most spectacular train routes in the world. The large windows of the cars offer breathtaking views, complemented by Peruvian music during the journey. Here are the Expedition train schedules:

Vistadome train

The Vistadome train features panoramic windows on walls and ceilings for an immersive experience. While enjoying the views, recorded commentary provides information about the areas you pass. Passengers can also enjoy music, typical dances, and a collection of baby alpaca garments. The Vistadome train schedules are:

Arrival stations

You can choose your preferred arrival station in Cusco during reservation:

Wanchaq station: at 3:20 pm, 4:22 pm, or 6:20 pmSan Pedro Station: at 4:43 or 5:23 pmPoroy Station: at 3:20, 4:43, or 5:23 pm

Rainy season

From January to April, train services to and from Cusco are limited. Reservations during this period should be done directly from Ollantaytambo.

Limited availability

This popular service has limited capacity, and availability may be restricted on your selected date. Book in advance to secure tickets. Official tickets will be sent within 72 hours of reservation.

Bimodal bus + train service

Until 30 April 2024, a bimodal service (bus + train) will operate for Poroy and San Pedro stations. Buses from Wanchaq station to Ollantaytambo station are available on various frequencies. Passengers must arrive at Wanchaq station at least 30 minutes before departure with their tickets. Trains on the Ollantaytambo - Machu Picchu - Ollantaytambo route will operate without changes.
