Options

When booking, you can choose the type of train for the three and a half to four-hour journey from Machu Picchu to Cusco.

Expedition train

Aboard the Expedition train, enjoy one of the most spectacular routes worldwide with large windows that provide breathtaking views. Recorded Peruvian music enhances the experience. The Expedition train schedules are:

Vistadome train

Travel in the Vistadome with panoramic windows that create an immersive experience. Recorded commentary shares insights about the scenery, while Peruvian music accompanies live shows and dances. The Vistadome train schedules are:

Arrival stations

When reserving, select your preferred arrival station in Cusco:

Wanchaq station: at 3:20 pm, 4:22 pm, or 6:20 pmSan Pedro Station: at 4:43 or 5:23 pmPoroy Station: at 3:20, 4:43, or 5:23 pm

Rainy season

From January to April, train operations may be irregular. Bookings are possible from Ollantaytambo.

Limited availability

This popular activity has limited capacity. Early bookings are recommended due to potential lack of availability. Official tickets will be sent within 72 hours after reservation.

Bimodal bus + train service

Until 30 April 2024, services from Poroy and San Pedro will run as a bimodal service (bus + train). Buses will transfer passengers with multiple frequency options from Wanchaq to Ollantaytambo.

Passengers must arrive at Wanchaq station 30 minutes prior to the bus departure with their tickets. Train services on the Ollantaytambo - Machu Picchu route will continue without changes.
