Pico Island Wine Tour
The wine tour departs at the scheduled time from Cais da Madalena Pico.
The first stop is at Moinho do Frade, known for its wine-growing landscapes, which are designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The journey continues to the Cooperativa do Vinho, where a wine tasting will feature a variety of white, red, and liqueur wines, including Frei Gigante, a prominent white wine from the Azores.
A lunch will follow at a local restaurant, serving fresh products like tuna or local meats, paired with Pico wine.
We will walk through villages made of volcanic stones to reach Madalena. At the outskirts lies the Wine Museum, where we will explore its vineyards, wine presses, and learn about the cultivation of grape vines. The largest dragon trees on Pico Island can also be found here.
A second tasting of local wines, including the traditional Verdelho do Pico, will occur at a winery.
The tour concludes 8 hours after departure, returning to the starting point.
