Day Trip Details
We'll meet on Calle San Bernardo and depart for Alcalá de Henares, one of the 15 Spanish cities declared UNESCO World Heritage sites.
After an hour's journey, we will begin a guided tour of Alcalá de Henares, lasting an hour and a half, focusing on its historic center and its connections to the Spanish Golden Age.
The tour includes a guided visit to its famous university, founded in 1499 by Cardinal Cisneros. We will then proceed to the Plaza de Cervantes to see one of its key monuments, the Corral de Comedias, one of the oldest public theaters in Europe dating back to the 17th century.
The tour emphasizes the renowned writer Miguel de Cervantes. We'll walk along Calle Mayor to his birthplace and learn about life in 17th century Spain at the Cervantes Birthplace Museum.
To further understand Cervantes, we'll visit the church where he was baptized in 1547 and admire the Alcalá Cathedral, notable for its Elizabethan Gothic style.
