Explore Salamanca, Spain’s most famous Renaissance city, and then head to Ávila, surrounded by a perfectly well-preserved city wall on a full-day guided trip from Madrid.
Day Trip Details
Meet your guide at the Las Ventas metro station at the scheduled time and board a coach to Ávila and Salamanca, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
The first stop will be Salamanca. You'll walk through its main cobbled-stone roads to Plaza Mayor, one of Europe's impressive squares.
Next, at Plaza de Anaya, you’ll see the two cathedrals: the New Cathedral of Salamanca and the Old Cathedral of Salamanca. You’ll also visit the University of Salamanca, attracting thousands of international students annually. Look for the famous frog hidden in the building's façade.
You will have about one hour for lunch at your leisure, with recommendations from your guide for trying typical Spanish cuisine.
After lunch, you’ll travel to Ávila, known for its medieval city walls. During your visit, admire the exterior of Ávila Cathedral and explore San Vicente Basilica and the 2,500 meters of medieval walls.
After your Ávila visit, you'll return to Madrid approximately 11 hours after departure.
