Toledo, El Escorial & Valley of the Fallen Day Trip
Depart from Madrid at 8:45 am for a day trip to three significant locations near the Spanish capital. Start by visiting the Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, a 16th-century UNESCO World Heritage Site commissioned by King Felipe II. Explore the Palace of the Habsburgs and the Bourbons, the Pantheon of the Kings and Princes of Spain, the Chapterhouses, and the Basilica.
Continue to the Valley of the Fallen, home to one of the tallest crosses globally at 150 meters. Visit the crypt, the Basilica of the Valley, and enjoy breathtaking views of the mountainous landscape and Cuelgamuros.
Return to Madrid by 2 pm for a free hour for lunch. Afterward, head to Toledo, another UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the old town, admire the Primate Cathedral facade, and the Alcazar. Conclude the trip with a visit to a traditional damascene workshop to learn about this art form.
