The Astronomical Observatory of Brera is a key historical site in Milan's scientific community, originating in the 18th century. The building is now home to the Astronomical Museum of Brera, which displays numerous important astronomical artifacts, including those related to the Mars canals first documented by astronomer Giovanni Schiaparelli in 1877.
During the tour, you'll explore the Gallery of Instruments with a guide who will share information about each object. You'll discover how a magnetometer is used, the workings of a spectrograph, and the significance of pendulum clocks in astronomy. The tour lasts for one hour.
Gallery of Instruments + Schiaparelli Dome
For an enhanced experience, choose the option that includes a visit to the Schiaparelli Dome, extending the tour to a total of 75 minutes. This includes 30 minutes in the Gallery of Instruments and the remainder spent at the dome housing the Merz telescope, in use since the 20th century.
