A Famous Observatory with Links to Mars
The Astronomical Observatory of Brera is a significant historical building in the Milanese scientific community, used for studying the Universe since the 18th century. It currently houses the Astronomical Museum of Brera, featuring numerous astronomy-related objects vital to various discoveries. It was here that discussions about the Mars canals began, first identified by astronomer Giovanni Schiaparelli in 1877.
During the tour, we'll explore the Gallery of Instruments with our guide, who will explain interesting facts about the objects. You'll learn the uses of a magnetometer, the functionality of a spectograph, and the significance of pendulum clocks in astronomy.

Gallery of Instruments + Schiaparelli Dome
If you opt for the tour that includes a visit to the Schiaparelli Dome, the duration will be a total of 75 minutes, with 30 minutes spent in the Gallery of Instruments and the remaining time at the dome housing the Merz telescope, in use by Brera astronomers since the 20th century.
