Explore the enchanting world of Middle-earth on our Lord of the Rings tour from Wellington, and see iconic filming locations full of natural beauty!

Tour Details

During the booking process, you can choose between two different tour options. At the designated time, we'll meet at your selected meeting point to visit the filming locations from The Lord of the Rings. Both tours include entry to the Weta Workshop and a guided tour of the studio. Below you'll find details for each tour:

Half-Day Tour (4 Hours)

We will start at Mount Victoria, passing by the Embassy Picture Theatre. At Mount Victoria's lookout, you will enjoy views and explore Hobbiton Woods, learning about key filming moments. Next is the Miramar Peninsula, where we visit the Weta Workshop and have free time at the Weta Cave for souvenirs and photos. Our final stop will be the bay area that served as part of Rivendell.

Available times: Daily at 8:30 am, 1 pm, and 1:30 pm.

Full-Day Tour (8 hours)

The full-day tour includes the same itinerary as the half-day tour, with additional stops. After stopping at the lookout, we will visit the Weta Workshop for a behind-the-scenes tour. We will then go to the Hutt River, known as the River Anduin, followed by a traditional lunch nearby. After lunch, we will explore the Kaitoke Regional Park, the site of Rivendell, and the Gardens of Isengard in Harcourt Park. The return trip will pass by the Dry Creek Quarry.

Available times: Daily at 8:30 am.
