Tour of Malé & Villimale

If you don't want to miss anything on your trip to the Maldives, enjoy a guided tour of Malé plus a tour of the island of Villimale. The best way to see what life is like for locals!

Tour of Malé & Villimale

We'll meet at the port in Malé at 10 am and we'll have a quick walk around, heading towards the oldest school in the city. Malé has a literacy rate of 98%.

After seeing the school, we'll head to the Malé Friday Mosque, the second largest mosque on the island, where our expert guide will share information about notable individuals buried there.

Next, we'll stop at the Royal Garden Café to try a traditional black tea and then admire the 3rd November Memorial.

Our following stop will be Sultan Park, also known as Rasrani Park, which houses the National Museum. Entrance fees for the museum are not included.

We'll then proceed to the Islamic Centre to learn about its significance in Malé, and pass by the iconic Independence Square, the city's political center.

Afterwards, we'll visit a fish market to interact with locals and enjoy a traditional Maldivan lunch.

Replenished, we'll take a taxi to the ferry terminal and board a boat to the island of Villimale, historically used as a prison and a quieter retreat.

We'll explore the island for about an hour, learning about its lifestyle and meeting members of the local NGO Save the Beach, who will discuss their conservation efforts.

We will conclude our tour with a visit to a local café for a traditional hedika; pastries and black tea, before returning to the ferry and heading back to Malé, arriving around 5 pm.
