Jeep Safari to Agiofarago, Matala & Odigitria

Our adventure begins at 8 am with a convenient pickup from your hotel in Malia. Prepare to board a jeep and set off into the heart of Crete, where you will explore some of the island's most enchanting locations.

As we navigate through picturesque vineyards, you’ll gain insights into the diverse grape varieties and wines crafted in Crete. Our first stop on this expedition is Agios Thomas, a quaint village perched at an altitude of 760 meters (2493 ft). Here, you can admire stunning vistas and visit ancient churches, remnants of Byzantine aqueducts, and Roman tombs.

We will then proceed to the Messara Valley, traversing through lush olive groves until we reach the Odigitria Monastery. This renowned monastery, originating from the 14th century, features a grand façade and an insightful museum showcasing traditional Cretan artifacts.

Next, we’ll head to Agiofarago Gorge. After a brief stop at its entrance, we’ll embark on a scenic 20-minute walk through the gorge, taking in its remarkable natural beauty. This trek will lead us to Agiofarago beach, where you can enjoy a refreshing swim in its crystal-clear waters. Following this, you’ll savor a delightful lunch at a local eatery, featuring a main dish, salad, and dessert.

Our tour concludes in the charming village of Matala, historically known for its 1970s hippie culture. You’ll have some free time to wander and uncover the village's unique attractions at your own pace.

Finally, we’ll regroup for our return journey to Malia, where you will be dropped off at your hotel around 4 pm.
