Chania, Lake Kournas & Rethymno Excursion

The tour begins at 7:30 am at the meeting point in Malia. Participants will embark on a journey to explore western Crete.

The first stop is Chania, known as the 'mother of the Cretan cities'. In the Old City, sights include the harbor, Venetian fortifications, and Turkish mosques. Visitors will also have the opportunity to sample local cuisine and shop in the market for souvenirs during a one and a half hour visit.

Next, the tour proceeds to Lake Kournas, regarded as one of Crete's gems. Participants will have two hours of free time to explore the freshwater lake, which is fed by subterranean water from the Lefka Ori mountain range. Activities include swimming in the lake and dining at a local restaurant.

At approximately 4:15 pm, the tour will continue to Rethymno. Participants will have the chance to discover key historical sites, including a 16th-century Venetian fortress, the Rimondi Fountain, and the Venetian Loggia.

The excursion concludes around 7:30 pm, returning to the meeting point in Malia.
