Itaimbezinho Canyon Day Trip

Description

At the indicated time, we'll meet at the Sítio Cultural Museu da Estância. From this point in Mampituba, we'll leave for the Itaimbezinho Canyon, one of the great natural treasures of southern Brazil.

After an hour's drive, we'll arrive at the foot of the Serra do Faxinal, where the old Tropeiros Route begins. We'll discover the history of the tropeiros of Brazil while walking the 3 kilometers (1.8 miles) of this trail along the Itaimbezinho Canyon, leading us to the Elbow viewpoint.

From this vantage point, you can view the sheer scale of the Itaimbezinho canyon: towering walls reaching heights of 700 meters (2,296 feet), an extensive 5.8-kilometer (3.6 miles) gorge, and a maximum gap of 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) between its rugged rock formations. After taking in these vistas, we'll embark on a 1.5-kilometer (0.9 miles) walk to the Vértice viewpoint, where you will see the Andorinhas and Véu da Noiva waterfalls.

We'll continue along the Itaimbezinho canyon visiting the Casa da Vó Maria, a house built in 1945 that features a craft store, snacks, and drinks.

From Casa da Vó Maria, we'll walk back to the starting point of the trekking route. Our vehicle will be waiting to take us back to the meeting point in Mampituba, where we will arrive 6 hours after pickup.
