La Virginia & El Guásimo Day Trip

On our day trip to La Virginia and El Guásimo from Manizales, we will explore a protected area in the Risaralda Department while blending sport and culture.

La Virginia & El Guásimo Day Trip

At 7 am, we will pick you up from your hotel in Manizales and travel to the Risaralda Department.

Our first stop will be the El Guásimo Nature Reserve, situated between the Cauca and Risaralda rivers, dedicated to protecting forest biodiversity. The reserve spans 1400 hectares, of which 400 hectares are dry tropical forest, unique in the Andean zone.

Upon arrival, we will embark on a 3-hour hike through the vegetation, eventually reaching the Cauca River and continuing for an additional hour. We will take a break to enjoy a traditional local lunch comprising a main course and a drink.

Next, we will visit the municipality of La Virginia, home to the El Guásimo Nature Reserve. Here, we will learn about local livelihoods based on coffee and fruit tree plantations.

At approximately 1 pm, we will return to Manizales and drop you off at your hotel.
