On our day trip to La Virginia and El Guásimo from Manizales, we'll explore a protected area in the Risaralda Department while combining sport and culture.
La Virginia & El Guásimo Day Trip
At 7 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Manizales and travel to the Risaralda Department for visits to two locations.
First, we'll stop at the El Guásimo Nature Reserve, which is situated between the Cauca and Risaralda rivers, dedicated to protecting forest biodiversity. The reserve encompasses 1400 hectares, of which 400 hectares consist of dry tropical forest, the only type in the Andean region.
Upon arrival, we'll partake in a 3-hour hike through the vegetation, leading us to the Cauca River. After walking for an hour, we'll pause for a traditional local lunch with a main course and a drink.
Next, we'll visit the municipality of La Virginia to learn about the local industries, particularly coffee and fruit tree cultivation.
We will return to Manizales and drop you off at your hotel by around 1 pm.

If you prefer to bring your own lunch, this option is available. You'll have time to eat on your own before visiting La Virginia.
