By booking this day trip to Marsella, you'll discover one of the most traditional cities in Colombia. In addition, we'll learn how to make delicious artisan chocolate.
Marsella Day Trip
At 7 am, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Manizales and drive to the department of Risaralda, where the Colombian municipality of Marsella is located.
On the way, we'll drive through the coffee plantations of the Cauca River Valley. Once in Marsella, we'll head to an agricultural farm, welcomed with an aperitif of patacones con hogao, a local onion and tomato sauce.
Then, we'll tour the farm to see the fruit trees and cocoa crops. You'll have the opportunity to participate in an organic chocolate-making workshop, experiencing the extraction of cocoa beans, roasting, and grinding. From the juice obtained, we'll prepare a chocolate drink.
This drink will be accompanied by a regional lunch featuring a typical dish such as "sancocho", made with chicken and products from the farm.
Next, we will drive to the village, stopping for a cup of Colombian coffee in the main square. We'll enjoy the colonial architecture of Marsella's landmarks, including the Casa de la Cultura, a National Heritage Site museum.
We'll also visit the Botanical Garden for a relaxing walk, and the José María Cemetery, another popular site in Marsella.
Finally, we'll return to Manizales, dropping you off at your hotel at 4:30 pm.
