Embark on a captivating journey to discover the rich biodiversity of the Andean rainforest during this hiking experience in the Otún Quimbaya Sanctuary. Encounter intriguing wildlife such as monkeys, tapirs, and vibrant tanagers among many other species.

Hiking Adventure in Otún Quimbaya Sanctuary

Your adventure begins with a pick-up from your hotel in Manizales at the scheduled time, as we travel southward towards the lush Otún Quimbaya Fauna and Flora Sanctuary, situated in Risaralda.

After approximately two hours on the road, we will arrive at this stunning nature reserve nestled in the Cordillera Central of the Andean Region of Colombia. This area is dedicated to the preservation of a myriad of species, including various birds, insects, and small mammals, many of which are considered endangered.

Upon arrival, we will embark on a gentle 2 km walk through the enchanting Andean rainforest. There’s no need to worry about strenuous trails, as this route offers breathtaking views of the thriving ecosystem around us.

During our hike, we will take a break to recharge with a delicious regional lunch consisting of a meal and a refreshing drink.

Following our meal, we will continue our leisurely stroll through nature.

This outing will grant us the chance to observe exotic avian species, including the moustached tororoi, the colorful tanager, and the Torrentes paca, along with mammals such as monkeys, silver foxes, and the impressive wolf guagua, which ranks as the second-largest rodent in Colombia.

Concluding our day, we will make our way back to Manizales, with a return to your hotel after an enriching 7-hour experience.
