Panela Tour
At 8 am, we'll meet you at your hotel in Manizales and drive to an agricultural farm approximately 1 hour 30 minutes away.
Upon arrival, we'll tour the sugar cane plantations where panela, a key ingredient in Colombian gastronomy, is extracted. The visit includes the opportunity to see a trapiche, a traditional mill still used for producing this natural sweetener.
Panela is used in various Colombian desserts and drinks, such as aguapanela, guarapo, and chicha. We will learn about its production from cultivation to solidification of the sugar cane juice.
After touring the sugar cane plantations, we will go to a natural area for a pleasant walk. Afterwards, you will have free time for lunch and to explore the reserve before returning to Manizales. We anticipate arriving back at your hotel by 4 pm.
