Discover one of the pillars of Colombian gastronomy on our Panela Tour from Manizales. We'll leave the city behind and see the sugar cane plantations as we learn how this natural product is made.
Panela Tour
At 8 am, we'll meet you at your hotel in Manizales and drive to an agricultural farm approximately 1 hour 30 minutes away.
Upon arrival, we will tour the sugar cane plantations from which panela, an essential ingredient in Colombian gastronomy, is made. We will also visit a traditional mill, known as a trapiche, which is still used to produce this natural sweetener.
Panela is utilized in numerous Colombian desserts and drinks, such as aguapanela, guarapo, and chicha, as an alternative to sugar. We will learn about the entire production process, from cultivation to the solidification of sugar cane juice.
After touring the sugar cane plantations, we will proceed to a natural area for a relaxing walk. You will then have some free time for lunch and to explore the reserve before returning to Manizales.
We will return to your hotel at approximately 4 pm.
