Maratea Private Tour

  • 2 Stunden

Discover one of the most famous seaside resorts in Basilicata with this Maratea Private Tour. You'll explore the medieval village and points of interest such as the statue of Christ the Redeemer and the Basilica of San Biagio.

Maratea Private Tour

At the chosen time, your guide will meet you near the fountain on Piazza Biagio Vitolo to start your private tour of Maratea, situated in the Gulf of Policastro overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea. You will first visit the statue of Christ the Redeemer, a symbol of Maratea, located atop Mount San Biagio. Created by artist Bruno Innocenti between 1963 and 1965, this sculpture stands 21 metres high and is crafted from white cement and Carrara marble.

Next, you will visit the Basilica of San Biagio, housing the relics of the patron saint. Inside, view the 15th-century fresco of the Madonna del Melograno, the marble tabernacle from 1519, and the ancient stone baptismal font from the 15th-16th century.

Finally, stroll through the medieval village, walking its narrow streets and observing historical buildings. The tour concludes after two hours.
